Australia's Coral Coast

Australia’s Coral Coast is a place where coastal wonders meet ancient landscapes, and the open road beckons you to adventure.

Stretching along 1,100km of breathtaking coastline from Cervantes, two hours north of Perth, Western Australia, to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, you'll find some of the best known and most loved attractions in Australia from the Pinnacles, a bubble-gum Pink Lake, Kalbarri National Park and Shark Bay World Heritage Area to Monkey Mia and the mesmerising Ningaloo Reef. Australia's Coral Coast is a boundless marine wonderland with open skies and otherworldly landscapes tied together by the Coral Coast Highway - one of the greatest road trips on earth.

Start your journey along Indian Ocean Drive where you’ll marvel at the Pinnacles Desert near Cervantes, observe endangered sea lions in the Jurien Bay Marine Park, tantalise your tastebuds on fresh Western Rock Lobster and explore unique and rare wildflowers.

Make your way inland along Brand Highway and be mesmerised by Wildflower Country where you’ll witness an abundance of colour as wildflowers bloom spectacularly during wildflower season between August – October.

Your next stop? Geraldton, the only city in the Coral Coast, rich with culture and history which complements its laidback coastal atmosphere, blessed with beautiful inner-city beaches and a warm, windy climate. To the south you’ll stumble upon picturesque natural waterholes and rolling hills making it a scenic drive, particularly during wildflower season where they grow in abundance. To the west of Geraldton lies the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, a pristine archipelago brimming with beauty, marine adventures and history.

Further north you’ll arrive at Kalbarri, a family favourite holiday destination, renowned for its adventure experiences and otherworldly natural attractions. Explore the 400-million-year-old Kalbarri National Park’s Nature’s Window, Kalbarri Skywalk and several hiking trails or visit Pink Lake (Hutt Lagoon), arguably Western Australia’s pinkest lake!

Be prepared to be awe-inspired with Shark Bay’s white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, rust-red sand dunes and abundant wildlife. Shark Bay became Western Australia’s first World Heritage listed area in 1991 and is home to the iconic Shell Beach (a beach made up entirely of shells), the quaint town of Denham, friendly Monkey Mia dolphins, picturesque Francois Peron National Park, idyllic Dirk Hartog Island and the westernmost point of mainland Australia – Steep Point.

Regarded as one of the last great ocean paradises, the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area is home to Australia’s largest fringing reef system with over 500 tropical fish species and 300 coral species. Swim with Ningaloo’s Big 3, whale sharks, humpback whales and manta rays or venture into Cape Range National Park’s rugged gorges, deep canyons and pristine wilderness.
