The Kimberley
The world-famous Kimberley region is Australia’s largest expanse of untamed wilderness. It is known for its spectacular landscapes, the most amazing sunsets and wonderful experiences and has been home to Aboriginal people for over 40,000 years, their history captured in some of Australia’s oldest rock art.
Some of the highlights for those who go exploring include the spectacular tidal rush known as the Horizontal Waterfalls at Talbot Bay; more typical water displays at Mitchell and Merton Falls. There are the curious rock formations of Bungle Bungle Range in World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park and the vast expanse of Lake Argyle. For a little more adventure, why not tackle the Gibb River Road, taking you through the heart of the Kimberley.
The main hubs within the Kimberley region are Broome in the west and Kununurra in the east. Both are accessible by road and air. Both Broome and Kununurra are excellent gateways to experiencing The Kimberly.
There are 3 main ways of experiencing the Kimberley region, overland experiences, cruises or by air. Each offers its own unique perspective of the region.
